Up the Northeast Coast

As you continue up the coast, your first stop will be Bâ Falls, 14 km northwest of Houaïlou bridge and on the mountain side, only 1.5 km upstream from the highway. There's a large swimming area at the base of the falls. After a swim, climb to the top for the view. (There have been reports of break-ins to the parked cars of visitors to the falls.)

Ponérihouen, 44 km northwest of Houaïlou, is a picturesque little town by the river of the same name. Coffee is the main cash crop in this area, and there's an experimental station in the town. The long one-way steel bridge two km west of Ponérihouen dates from WW II.
